"I Am Mother" has an interesting premise, impressive visual effects, and makes reference to many themes which then it doesn't explore. The world doesn't feel cohesive, even taking into account that this is a very small story within it (there's only three characters for almost all of the movie). The main theme is trust and the narrative does resolve the issue: the daughter asserts herself as capable of taking care of herself and the whole human species, and the mother supposedly learns to trust her and stops controlling her (but not really). I think maybe this story was not compatible with this world. I don't know, I just feel it could have done a lot more with a lot less.
